When an inexperienced technician in our shop damaged the front differential case of a Subaru TR580 CVT, I was tasked with the repair. This tool makes it possible to remove and reinstall the variator chain inside the TR580. Subaru lists the part number for the tool, but it can not be purchased from Subaru. Fortunately, Transmission Parts Now had the tool available and was able to ship it across the country quickly. The tool fit and worked perfectly. At $200 this tool is a deal, considering it would have been a minimum of $5000 to purchase a reman unit plus labor.
